Brian Skripac, Associate AIA, CSI, CDT brought
BIMWorld (a website of free 3D
Manufacturer content built in
Revit, DWG, DWF, SKP-SketchUp) to our
Revit Application Specialists’ attention last year.
Today BIMWorld is quoting Brian's email to us on their front
page, right margin.
If we combine BIMWorld’s thousands of free Revit 3D
building components (families) with the thousands available on
RevitCity, users have a volume
of free content they can pull down and use inside their Revit
projects.
New Revit users should go to the
Autodesk®
Revit® Web Library to download hundreds of free Revit
families. These are families that don't ship on your Revit
installation DVD/CD. You can access this library directly from
Revit. The Revit OPEN command has the link to this library in the
upper right corner. It will open a new webpage in Windows
Explorer.
Here’s Brian's quote that’s currently posted on
the right side of BIMWorld’s front page:
Brian P. Skripac of IMAGINiT Technologies,
Associate AIA, CSI, CDT
"I just found this great website BIMWorld
that is starting to publish manufacturers who have downloadable
Revit files and they are also free. You do have to register, but
that's free also.
I know I always get questions about when
will more manufacturers get on board with Revit and it looks like
it may be starting to happen. I downloaded a couple things.
What's really great is the fact that there is a tremendous amount
of information built into these families. All of the
manufacturers/product info is there, the website links in the
properties, Revit family TXT files for the really big families
and the texture maps for rendering."
Cheers to
BIMWorld and the
manufacturer's support
of Revit!
